I have been practicing yoga since 2005. I initially began to practice
yoga while undergoing some personal health issues. The growing improvement
in mind and body were so exciting that I wished to share yoga with
my family. With their encouragement, I attended a week-long YogaKids
Foundations Training in Kirkwood, MO during March of 2006. In this
fun workshop I learned some of the YogaKids poses, techniques, concepts,
and methodology developed by yoga for children pioneer, Marsha Wenig,
during her 20 years of study, research, practice and teaching yoga
to children. I also earned the designation of Certified YogaKids
Associate (YKA). During the course of the next year I completed
an extensive, independent home-study program, culminating in a 5-day
intensive program called Advanced Training Intensive (ATI) in Decatur,
GA, to earn the Certified YogaKids Facilitator (YKT) and YogaKids
Trainer (YKT) in July 2007. I am also trained to present specialty
workshops to adults. I also recently started working on my 200-hours
Yoga Alliance Certification with Adrian Tartler at Siva Power Yoga
in Wichita, KS.
In the Wichita and surrounding area, I have taught over 35 Girl
Scout Troops, provided yoga to children at the Derby Sixth Grade
Center during the Health and Body Fair, volunteered with Communities
in School with the Derby Middle School and Tanglewood Elementary
School students, taught classes at Derby Recreation Commission,
the Haysville Recreation Department, and spent time during the summer
at the Kansas Jaycees Cerebral Palsy Ranch teaching physically/mentally
challenged adults and children. My passion is to empower children
through yoga to live a life full of health, joy, and harmony.
